5 Hack for Online Teaching Especially for Primary School Students

For primary school student, you need to be a bit active  So how can we make our young children's online class more interesting and energetic.

The first hack to use, props a lot of props there are. Lots of props you can use it. You can use flashcards puppets, face masks, solid objects around you to make the online class interesting, and also your online teaching has become the same as offline.

You must use the object that can attract the children. Instead of using the PPT and diagram, use the object around you. For example for giving the example of the noun, you can use a pet in your house and another thing which is related to the children. 

 

And for explaining solid, liquid, and gas, do not show the only picture. You can use the liquid in your water bottle and for solid, use solid objects around you, and for the gas, you can use ballon. In case the thing is not available you can simply use the picture for the reference.

Hack-2

Be expressive, Express your self confidently and energetically. Now how can you be more expressive in an online class as you are in an offline class? In your offline class, you have your whole body language engaging with the student. 

This teaching method you know very well but the challenge arises when you go for online teaching.

And there are so many things that are present in an offline classroom. As an example whiteboard, smartboard, teaching resources, and most important you are present there.

 If any student does another thing you can stop them and can keep their full attention in class but in the online teaching method, you can't.

 

 So how can you do all these things in your online classes? For these, you can make your facial expression, modulate your voice, move around your camera these are the best online teaching style or methods you should apply it.

For example, Instead of saying normally  " A lion jumps on the table in the circus and audience clap for the lion".

 

You can slowly jump and give the expression like a lion and clap in between the story then it will more interesting and energetic. If you can follow this, the children are more engaged with you.

 

 

Hack-3

The third thing to remember is, To take a single concept or topic at a time don't throw several topics or concepts at a time. For example, if you are taking a topic from mathematics let say "Even number" then you can teach only "Even number" don't go for others.

 

 If you are throwing numbers of topics and concepts then it would be harsh on them and they not able to understand a single topic . This is not the way for online teaching.

 

So pick only one topic and explain it in a different-different way because they don't have the proper school or normal environment so how can they understand different things at a time.

 

Hack-4

Do lots of fun activities for them during the class so they can seat in front of you don't restrict them from doing the activities with you. For example, you can tell a short story between the study so the can concentrate in the class. And this will enhance your online teaching skills.

Activate them during the class, asked them to do something for all the students in an online class, asked some questions, unmute them and let them speak in front of the whole class, ask them to write in the chatbox, something related to the topic. 

 

Use topics that children really want to talk about with each other online.

Children talk about pets and the funny things they do or even an imaginary pet, or have them suggest favorite games or a game they would like to try as a class, etc.

 

You can use non-verbal, physical responses online to communicate their understanding of new language, such as stand up if it’s true, raise your hands if it’s false.

 

Hack-5

To get them active asked them to do yoga. You can do some exercises that they can follow. Tell them how to inhale and exhale. Give permission to jump on the floor for 10 at their place. Let them active maybe they are missing on this one that they used to have in their regular school.

 

By doing the yoga and exercise the feel relax and refresh and after, they concentrate in the online class.
